Lost Planet Spinoff Coming to 3DS and PS3 Because Logic

Sometimes it’s just a little difficult to understand where a company is coming from with its business decisions. After all, it’s not like Sony doesn’t have a handheld of its own that could use some love and new games, and also has some good built-in compatibility with the home console. Instead, it’s time to put out a game on a powerful home console and a less-powerful handheld from different companies, so that any possible cross-platform play is just out the window.

Tony Hawk 3 Levels to Appear in Tony Hawk HD

Activision has announced that they will be releasing Tony Hawk 3 levels as the first paid DLC for Tony Hawk HD.  The HD collection will only have levels from the first two games at launch, but it is good to hear that some of the fantastic levels from the first game will be featuring a return.  It is unknown which levels will make the cut, but Activision is asking for suggestions on the Tony Hawk HD Facebook page, though Tony Hawk will have the final say.  Currently Tony Hawk HD is set for release this July.

Fungal Zombies Aren’t All There Is To Fear In The Last Of Us

A second trailer for Naughty Dog’s upcoming The Last Of Us has hit the internet, and whilst we annoyingly don’t get any gameplay footage, we do learn that protagonists Joel and Ellie aren’t quite the very last of us alive in this I Am Legend-reminiscent survival title. Catch the trailer whilst it’s hot up above! As infuriating it is that we haven’t got any gameplay for a game that’s been given a 2012 release date yet, have a little patience. With E3 just around the corner, it seems incredibly likely that this is simply a teaser to remind everybody that the game is still…

THQ Fiscal Reports: Delays, Cancellations, and Losses

I think we’ve all been waiting for THQ’s fiscal reports to crop up finally, and today’s the day. Unfortunately, because of Diablo III, I don’t think anyone’s really paying attention, but man, THQ’s news sure isn’t doing much to make their future seem brighter. First of all come delays. Of course, we all know about the Darksiders II delay, and that sounds like the official date for it is going to be August 14th now. Their new South Park RPG, being developed by Obsidian, has also been pushed back to Q4, so it seems like we’ll be waiting for a…

Oh Noes! 38 Studios Enters Dark Financial Straits

Despite an initial pretty-good-for-a-new-IP sales number of 410,000, it seems the house of Kingdoms of Amalur is in a pretty bad condition these days, causing the Rhode Island government to look into ways to keep the studio from going under. You know things are kind of bad when the government starts coming in to help make sure you don’t go under right? Of course, the fact that the Rhode Island government gave the studio $75 million to move there in the first place might mean they have a little bit of a vested interest.

Diablo III Launch Day: Game Breaking Bugs and Server Downtime

9:00 PST: With that, I am calling an official end to Darkstation’s Diablo III launch day coverage. We laughed, we cried, we didn’t actually play much Diablo III. 8:46 PST: The servers were up for a good five hours, but have just gone down again. I was in the middle of a boss fight when it happened, which was kind of terrible. Blizzard has a thread about it on the forums, but isn’t providing an ETA on when the servers will come back up. It’s safe to say that we won’t be able to play Diablo III without issue until…

Finally, Happy Fiscal News! Square Enix Sees Profits, Raised Revenue

In the midst of all the doom-and-gloom fiscal reports we’ve been seeing lately, it’s easy to think that gaming is doomed and everyone’s going to shut down in the coming years. But finally, some good news comes from a company that no one would have really expected it from, as Square Enix reports that their last fiscal year was better than the year before.

Learn About Ghost Recon: Future Soldier DLC

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier isn’t even out yet, but that isn’t stopping Ubisoft from announcing some premium DLC for the game. Entitled “Arctic Strike,” the add-on offers news maps for competitive and co-op multiplayer modes, from Russia’s capital to the titular arctic setting. You’ll also get six additional weapons that, Ubisoft says, will give you “the supreme edge over your enemies.”

The Tombs Will Still Be There, Right? Tomb Raider Reboot Delayed

Looks like it’s that time of the year again- summer is on its way, E3 looms around the corner, and all of the great games you were looking forward to are being delayed until 2013. Hot on the heels of Bioshock Infinite getting out of this year, Crystal Dynamics studio head Darrell Gallagher made a forum post announcing the delay of the game.
